Build the body basketball actually demands.

Basketball is relentless — the sprints, the jumps, the contact, the change of direction, and a season that barely lets up. The skill gets the spotlight, but underneath it every good basketballer needs a real athletic engine and a body that holds up. That's what we build.

We've walked this, and the room carries a standard. The coaches here have competed at the top, and we know exactly what a young basketballer's body has to be able to do — and how to build it without breaking them down in the process.

What we actually build for a basketballer

Speed and first-step quickness. A stronger, more repeatable vertical. Sharper change of direction. And the durability to keep all of it late in games and late in a long season. The on-court skill stays with their basketball coach — our job is the athletic engine it runs on, and the resilience that keeps them on the court instead of on the sideline.

Programmed around their basketball

A young basketballer carrying club, school and SASI loads doesn't need more random training piled on top. We sequence our work around their week and their season so they show up to games fresher and more durable — complementing their basketball program, not competing with it.

The proof plays in the WNBA and the WNBL

Izzy Borlase came through here as a junior. She now plays in the WNBA with the Atlanta Dream — a Paris 2024 Olympic bronze medallist with the Australian Opals, and the 2026 WNBL MVP. Tayla Brazel came in as a young basketballer and now plays for the Adelaide Lightning in the WNBL on a SASI scholarship. They did the work — we were lucky to be part of the road. "We chose The Nth Degree because close friends of ours recommended it and she has not looked back. The coaches made Tayla feel very comfortable from day 1. Working with like-minded people, especially through the early COVID period, has been a benefit to her to keep her focus."

Questions parents ask us

Do you do strength and conditioning specifically for basketball?

Yes. Basketball makes its own demands — repeat sprints, change of direction, jumping and landing, contact, and a season that barely stops. We build the athletic engine underneath the skill: speed, power, a stronger vertical, and the durability to hold up across a long season. The skill work stays with their basketball coach; we build the body it runs on.

Will it actually help with speed, vertical and change of direction on court?

That's exactly what it's for. Strength and power training, programmed properly, is the most reliable way to add to a young athlete's speed, jump and ability to change direction — and to make those qualities hold up late in games and late in seasons. It's not about getting 'gym strong'; it's about being a better mover on the court.

My athlete already trains with their club and SASI — does this fit around that?

Yes, and that's the point. We coach plenty of athletes carrying real club, school and academy loads. We sequence our work around their week so they arrive at games fresher and more durable, not more cooked. We'd rather complement their basketball program than compete with it.

What ages do you train for basketball?

8 to 18. Younger players (8–13) build movement and athletic foundations in our Foundations Academy; older players (13–18) move into the Advanced Academy for serious, sport-specific strength, speed and power.

Have basketballers from The Nth Degree gone on to elite level?

Yes. Izzy Borlase came through here as a junior and now plays in the WNBA with the Atlanta Dream — a Paris 2024 Olympic bronze medallist with the Opals and the 2026 WNBL MVP. Tayla Brazel came in as a young basketballer and now plays for the Adelaide Lightning in the WNBL on a SASI scholarship. They did the work; we were lucky to be part of the road.
