Summer School Holidays · Ages 13 and up

Start the season already moving.

Most athletes spend the first month of their season catching up. The Summer Pre-Season Block is fifteen coached sessions of speed, strength and power over the summer break, for athletes 13 and up, in our room in Norwood, so they walk into their season ready for the work.

Pre-season starts before pre-season.

Football clubs are back on the track from early November, and netball returns in the middle of January. Either way, the athletes who handle the first hard weeks are the ones who arrive already strong and already moving well. Six weeks over the break is enough to build that, with the load added steadily rather than all at once.

What a session looks like

Every session is coached start to finish. Acceleration and top speed, change of direction, jumping and landing, and strength work with real load once the movement has earned it. The group is athletes 13 and up who are getting ready for a season, and the room is run that way: calm, focused, and everyone knows what they're there to get better at.

Who coaches it

Our academy coaching team, the same coaches our athletes train with through the term. They coach young athletes heading into a season every year, and they know the difference between a session that builds an athlete and one that just makes them tired.

Or train in a group of six.

The Summer Small Group Block is for athletes who are serious about their training. It runs on the same fifteen days, in the afternoon, with the group capped at six. Same principles as the block, coached more directly and at a more advanced level, with a coach close enough to see every rep and adjust the session to the athlete in front of them.

Questions parents ask us

When exactly are the sessions?

Mon 14, Wed 16, Fri 18 December, then Mon 21, Wed 23 and Thu 24 December (Christmas Day is a Friday). A break from 25 December to 3 January, then Monday, Wednesday and Friday every week from 4 to 22 January. All at 11:30am, one hour.

My athlete is already back at club pre-season. Is this too much?

It depends on the week, which is why we ask. Tell us what their club is doing when you book, and we coach the session around it. A heavy club week gets a different session, not the same one on top.

Do they need to have trained with you before?

No. Plenty of athletes start with us in a block like this. The first sessions are where we see how they move and set the starting point, and the load builds from there.

What if we're away for part of it?

Most families are, at some point over summer. The pack is fifteen sessions to use between 14 December and 22 January, so you book the ones that suit and skip the ones that don't. Sessions you don't book before 22 January don't carry over.

What's the difference between the block and the small group?

Both are fifteen sessions on the same dates, built on the same principles. The block runs at 11:30am. The small group runs at 3:00pm, is capped at six athletes, and the coaching is more direct and more advanced. It suits athletes who are serious about their training.

Is there something for younger athletes?

Yes. The Summer Holiday Athlete Academy is for ages 8 to 12 and runs the same mornings at 10:15am, so siblings can come in on the same trip.

What do they bring?

Runners, a drink bottle and clothes they can move in. That's it.
